Cavaille-Coll Organ of the Saint-Denis Basilica

The symphonic organ marks its first step in this famous basilica located in suburb of Paris. Aristide Cavaille-Coll left some 600 instruments both in France and in foreign countries which are all derived from this historic monument. This is the first organ making use of tracker action assisted by pneumatic levers invented by Charles Spackman Barker. It has plenum on 32' on the manual after Dom Bedos and the block part of some reed stops are still made in classical manner, which gives an impression of being transition from a classic organ to a modern (symphonic) one. Aristide seems however to make some new trials :
The pipework of Positive Organ (first manual) is housed not in Rukpositiv case but in the first stage of Main Case. There're series of Harmonic Flutes. The Recit Organ (third manual) as full compass (C1-F5) even in Swell shutters...
Marvelous Case in neo classic-style attributes to Debret.
The organ was accepted and inaugurated in 1841.
